Summer activities

Summer on Lake Garda is a glorious, technicolour extravaganza, awash with Mediterranean aromas. The air is filled with a plethora of different languages, as people of different cultures mingle together, all drawn here by the splendour of the place and by the high-profile sporting competitions held throughout this period of the year. In short, summer on Lake Garda is all about life, action, movement and sport. Sports in the sky, on the water and on terra firma.
... sky sports: gliding, paragliding, basejumping
... watersports: canoeing, canyoning, swimming, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, sub-aqua diving, kitesurfing
Thanks to its well-ventilated location, Torbole has become an internationally renowned centre for sailing and surfing. It is a true paradise for watersports fanatics, who consider this area to be ideal for all their favourite pursuits.
... sports on terra firma: trekking, mountain biking, tennis, squash, horse riding, cycling, five-a-side football, beach volleyball and (last but not least) free climbing – every year, in late summer, this part of Italy attracts the world's finest climbers, who take part in the famous Rock Master competition.

Paragliding
Paragliding is the simplest and lightest form of free flying currently available and is based on parachuting. The necessary equipment includes a paragliding sail, which is attached to the glider's seat by two cables. The glider controls the flight path using two aerodynamic brakes.

Free climbing
Free climbing is all about ascending an obstacle, whether it be a rock face (the free climbing obstacle par excellence, and the one that has provided the greatest impetus for the development of the sport), a boulder, an artificial panel or any urban structure. The term "free climbing" denotes the style of climbing in which the climbers use only their hands and feet to conquer the obstacle, with no additional accoutrements.

Nordic Walking
Nordic walking is a form of walking that involves the use of suitable poles. It can be practiced for fitness or as a sport, with options ranging from slow-paced, therapeutic walks to intensive walks that are similar to athletic exercises.

Windsurfing
Windsurfing is a sport that can be practiced at sea or on a lake. It involves moving across the water on a small board, powered by the force of the wind pushing against the sail. The sail is mounted on a shaft that is fixed to the board via a universal joint, which works on the principle of a Cardan joint and is referred to as a "mast heel". The sail is held upright and controlled by the windsurfer using a boom known as a "wishbone".

Sailing
The sport of sailing can be differentiated from other watersports because it is based on the use of boats (ranging from the smallest craft to large maxi-yachts with multiple hulls). The boats must receive their propulsion exclusively from one or more sails, which must be manoeuvred manually by crews composed of one or more members.

Mountain biking
A mountain bike (or MTB) is a rugged bicycle that has been specially designed to allow the rider to go off-road, both on ascents and descents.
